How to set up your personal web site

Every Omsoft DSL Customer gets a small amount of personal web space to use, but it is not initialized until you ask us to. Please e-mail or call us using the info on our Contact page to have us set it up for you.

Once we have initialized your web space, we will provide you with four pieces of information that you should keep track of:
  • The FTP Server
  • Your FTP username
  • Your FTP password
  • Your web site's address
Your web site's address will be directly related to what your FTP username is. For example, if you chose 'foo' as your FTP username, the root address of your site would be http://www.omsoft.com/home/foo.
NOTE: You must have what's known as a "default document" in order to have your root address come up with a web page. The default document can be named "index.html", "index.htm", "homepage.html", or "default.htm". If you do not have a default document, your root address with come up with an error when you try and access it.

Once you have this information, you are at liberty to copy your web site onto our server. You will need to plug in this information into an FTP program of your own choosing.
